The English word "Monday" comes from  the Old Germanic word "Monan-daeg." "Monan" means "moon" and "daeg" means "day."  Therefore, "Monday" can be  translated as "day of the moon."

The ancient Germanic peoples held the moon high regard. The moon played an important role in agriculture, hunting, and timekeeping. Therefore, Monday was considered a day to celebrate the moon.

The English word "Monday" has a  similar etymology to the names of Monday in other European languages. For example, the French word "lundi", the German word "Montag", the Spanish word "lunes", and the Italian world "lundi" all mean "day of the moon."

The Korean word "월요일", also has the same etymology. "월" means "moon", "요일" means "day." Therefore, "월요일" can also be translated as "day of the moon."

영단어 "Monday"의 어원은 고대 게르만어의 "Monan-daeg"에서 유래되었다. "Monan"은 "달"을 뜻하는 단어이고, "daeg"는 "날"을 뜻하는 단어이다. 따라서 "Monday"는 "달의 날"이라는 뜻으로 해석할 수 있다.
