[영어] YOLO(You Only Live Once)

 

우리 속담에 "생일날 잘 먹겠다고 사흘 굶는다"라는 말이 있다. 보릿고개를 넘던 시절 얘기이다. 생일도 중요하지만 생일까지의 과정도 아름답도록 행복을 유예하지 말았음 싶어 YOLO를 소개한다.

A : Hey, have you heard of the term "YOLO"?
B : Yeah, I have. It stands for "You Only Live Once."
A : Right. So what do you think about it?
B : I think it's a great philosophy. It's important to enjoy life and make the most of every moment.
A : I agree. I think it's important to have a balance between living in the present and planning for the future.
B : That's true. You don't want to be so focused on the present that you forget to save for retirement or buy a house.
A : But at the same time, you don't want to be so focused on the future that you miss out on all the fun things life has to offer.
B : Exactly. You have to find a happy medium.
A : What are some of the things  you've done because of YOLO?
B : Well, I quit my job and traveled the world for a year. It was an amazing experience.
A : Wow, that's so cool! I've always wanted to do that.
B : You should. It's the best way to see the world and meet new people.
A : I'll definitely consider it.
B : What about you, Have you done anything YOLO-worthy?
A : Well, I've always wanted to to learn how to play the guitar. So, I signed up for lessons last month.
B : That's awesome! I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano.
A : Maybe we can take lessons together.
B : That would be great!
A : So, what do you think is the future of YOLO?
B : I think it's here to stay. People are becoming more and more aware of the importance of living in the present and enjoying life.
A : I agree. I think it's a positive trend.

이런 이야깁니다 ~

A : 있지, YOLO란 말 들어봤어?
B : 그럼 들어봤지. "You Only Live Once."의 약자잖아.
A : 맞아, 근데 어떻게 생각해?
B : 좋은 철학이라고 생각해. 인생을 즐기고 매 순간을 소중히 여기는 게 중요하다고 생각해.
A : 나도 그래. 현재를 사는 것과 미래를 계획하는 것 사이의 균형을 맞추는 것이 중요하다고 생각해.
B : 맞아 현재에 너무 집중해서 노후 준비나 집을 사야 한다는 걸 잊으면 안 돼.
A : 근데, 그와 동시에 미래에 너무 집중해서 인생이 제공하는 모든 재미있는 것들을 놓치고 싶지는 않아.
B : 맞아 행복한 중간지점을 찾아야 해.
A : YOLO 때문에 했던 일들은 뭐야?
B : 직장을 그만두고 1년 동안 세계 여행을 했어. 정말 놀라운 경험이었어.
A : 와, 멋지다! 나도 항상 하고 싶었어.
B : 꼭 해봐. 세상을 보고 새로운 사람을 만나는 가장 좋은 방법이니까.
A : 꼭 고려해 볼게.
B : 넌 어때? YOLO 할만한 일은 해봤어?
A : 음 항상 기타를 배우고 싶었어. 그래서 지난달에 레슨 신청했어.
B : 멋지네! 나도 피아노를 배우고 싶었어.
A : 같이 레슨 들어볼까?
B : 좋을 것 같아.
A : 그럼 YOLO의 미래는 어떻게 될 것 같아
B : 계속될 것 같아. 사람들은 현재를 사는 것과 인생을 즐기는 것의 중요성을 점점 더 인식하게 되고 있어.
A : 나도 그래. 긍정적인 트렌드라고 생각해.
