The origin of dumplings

Dumplings have a long and complex history with many different theories about their origin. The most popular theory is that dumplings originated in China during the Three Kingdoms period. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang was preparing to sacrifice a human head to a river god. However, he believed that it was wrong to take a human life, so He made a human-shaped dumpling  instead. This is how dumplings got their name, "mantou", which means "to deceive(瞞)" and "head(頭)."

Another theory is that dumplings originated in Central Asia. Central Asia has a dish called "samsa" that is made by spreading dough thinly  filling it with meat and vegetables. Some people believe that dumplings originated from "samsa."

The  exact time when dumplings were introduced to Korea is not known. However, there are records of dumplings existing in Korea since the Goryeo Dynasty. The Goryeo Dynasty document "Goryeodokyong" states that "dumplings are a Chinese dish made with flour dough and filled with meat and vegetables and steamed." During the Joseon Dynasty, dumplings developed into a variety of  types, including the various types of dumplings that we see today.

Today, dumplings have become a food loved by people all over the world. Dumplings have the advantage of being able to be enjoyed according to various tastes because of their variety of types and cooking methods. In addition, dumplings are nutritious food that is good for health.

만두의 기원

만두는 다양한 기원에 관한 많은 이론이 있는 길고 복잡한 역사를 가지고 있다. 가장 대중적인 이론은 만두가 중국 삼국시대에 시작되었다고 한다. 삼국시대 제갈량은 강의 신에게 인간의 머리를 제물로 바치려고 준비했다. 그러나 그는 인간의 생명을 앗아 가는 것은 잘못이라고 생각했기 때문에, 대신 인간 모양의 만두를  만들었다. 이것이 바로 만두가 "mantou"라는 이름을 얻은 이유다. 이는 "속이기(瞞)"와 "머리(頭)"를 의미한다.

 

또 다른 이론은 만두가 중앙아시아에서 시작되었다고 한다. 중앙아시아에는 "삼사"라는 음식이 있는데, 이 음식은 반죽을 얇게 펴서 고기와 야채를 채워서 만든다. 일부 사람들은 만두가 "삼사"에서 유래되었다고 믿는다.

 

만두가 한국에 도입된 정확한 시기는 알려져 있지 않다. 그러나 고려시대부터 한국에 만두가 존재했다는 기록이 있다. 고려시대의 문헌인 "고려도경" 에는 "만두는 밀가루 반죽에 고기와 야채를 채워 익힌 중국 음식이다."라고 기록돼 있다. 조선시대에는 만두가 다양한 종류로 발전했는데, 오늘날 우리가 보는 다양한 만두 종류가 포함된다.

오늘날 만두는 전 세계 사람들이 사랑하는 음식이 되었다. 만두는 다양한 유형과 요리 방법으로 다양한 취향에 따라. 즐길 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 또한 만두는 건강에 좋은 영양가 높은 음식이다.
