It's a term derived by taking the middle part of "charisma",  and in Korea, you might have heard the expression "리즈시절." In this context "리즈" signifies a past flourishing period, such as the prime time of celebrity or someone in their middle age. Originally referring to the time when a specific player from the English football team "Leeds United" was active, the meaning has expanded.

In the United States, they don't use the term "리즈" to mean "prime time". However, recently, a similar expression, "rizz" has become quite trendy in the US.
The American 'rizz' shares the same Korean spelling as '리즈' but differs in spelling and English pronunciation from the Korean term 'Leeds.'

"Rizz" in the US means "the charm that attracts the opposite sex" and is slang widely used among individuals in their teens and twenties. It implies a hidden charm rather than just being good-looking. For example, if you say, "The person has rizz", it  means they have the power to attract the opposite sex, even if their appearance isn't outstanding. It's often used in noun or verb forms like 'have rizz'  or 'rizz up.' Many interpret it as removing the middle part of 'charisma.'

한국에서 리즈 시절이란 단어를 들어봤을 것이다. 이때 리즈는 연예인이나 중년 등의 '과거 잘나가던 때', 즉 '전성기'를 의미한다. 이 표현은 원래 국내 인터넷 커뮤니티 등에서 영국 프로 축구팀 'Leeds United' 소속 특정선수가 활약하던 시절을 지칭하다가 그 뜻이 확대됐다.

미국에서는 전성기란 뜻으로 '리즈'라는 말을 쓰지 않는다. 하지만 최근 미국에서는 '리즈'라는 비슷한 표현이 크게 유행하고 있다. 미국의 리즈(rizz)는 한국에서의 리즈(Leeds)와 한글 표기는 같지만, 스펠링과 영어 발음이 다르다.

미국의 리즈는, '이성을 끌어당기는 매력' 이란은 뜻이다. 10~20대들 사이에서 널리 쓰이는 신조어다. 단순히 잘생기거나 예쁘다는 뜻보다는 숨겨진 매력이란 의미에 가깝다. 예컨대 '그사람은 리즈가 있어' 라고 말한다면, 반드시 외모가 뛰어나지 않더라도 이성의 마음을 끌어당기는 힘이 있다는 뜻이다. '묘한 매력이 있다' 라든가 '(이성을) 유혹하다' 등 명사나 동사의 형태로 사용한다. 카리스마의 중간 부분을 떼낸 것이란 해석이 많다.
