단풍잎들을 떨구는 비가 반갑지 않았는데, 그 비 덕에 하늘은 말갛게 세수를 한 모양이다. 유독 푸르고 높다.  가을을 두고  "천고마비(天高馬肥)의 계절"이라고 했던가. 하늘은 노~~옾고, 말이 아닌 나만 포동포동 살이 오르는 가을.  내겐 天高我肥인 걸로 ㅎㅎ

천고마비(天高馬肥)의 유래?

The  Chinese idiom "Tian Gao Ma Fei" (天高馬肥) literally means that the sky is high and
the horses are fat. The word "Tian"(天) means sky, "Gao"(高) means high, "Ma"(馬) means horse and "Fei"(肥) means fat.

The idiom originally had a more ominous meaning. It  was used to warn of the potential for invasion by the Xiongnu, a nomadic people who lived in northern China and Mongolia. The Xiongnu were skilled horsemen, and they used the clear skies and well-fed horses of autumn to their advantage. As a result, the Chinese people lived in fear of Xiongnu attacks during the autumn months.

In modern times, "Tian Gao Ma Fei" (天高馬肥) is more commonly used to refer to the beauty abundance of autumn. The weather is mild, the harvest is plentiful, and the days are long and sunny. As a result, people often use the idiom to describe the beauty and prosperity of autumn.

그러나 현대에는 천고마비가 가을은 풍요로운 계절이라는 의미로 더 많이 사용된다. 가을은 선선하고, 농작물이 풍성하게 수확되는 계절이다. 따라서 사람들은 가을을 풍요로운 계절로 여기며, 천고마비를 가을의 아름다움과 풍요로움을 표현하는 말로 사용한다.
