under the weather 의 유래

Under the weather 는 19세기부터 사용된 것으로 알려져 있으며, 정확한 어원이나 유래는 알려져 있지 않지만,  사람들이 날씨가 좋지 않으면  몸이 좋지 않게 느끼는 것에서 유래했다는 설이 있다.

Under the weather 는 다음과 같이 사용될 수 있다.

I'm feeling under the weather today. ( 오늘 몸이 좋지 않아.)
She's been under the weather for a few days.( 그녀는 며칠째 몸이 좋지 않다.)
I'm not sure if I'm coming to work today. I'm feeling under the weather.( 오늘 출근할 수 있을지 모르겠어. 몸이 좋지 않아.)

Sarah : Not really.  I'm feeling a bit under the weather.
Tom : Oh, I see. Are you going to see a doctor?
Sarah : I think I'll wait a day or two. If I don't feel better, I'll go see  a doctor.
