punch above one's weight

자기 실력이나 기대치보다 더 뛰어난 성과를 나타내는 것을 의미하는 영어 표현으로
펀치의 힘이 주먹의 무게에 비례한다고 볼 때, 자기 주먹의 무게 보다 더 강한 힘을 발휘하여 

'자기 실력을 뛰어넘다', '기대치를 뛰어넘다', '넘치는 활약을 하다' 는 의미로 표현할 수 있다.

  The underdog punched above his weight and won the fight. (약체 선수가 자기 실력을 뛰어넘고 경기에서 이겼다.)
  The new employee is punching above his weight and making a contribution to the team.(신입사원이 기대치를 뛰어넘어      팀에 실질적인 기여를 하고 있다.)
  The company is punching above its weight and competing with much larger rivals.(회사가 훨씬 큰 경쟁자들과 경쟁을 하     는 넘치는 활약을 하고 있다.) 

또한, 연애에 빗대어 한쪽이 다른 한 쪽보다 경제적 능력이나 외모가 월등할 때도 이 표현을 사용할 수 있다.
